Job Description

The Carpenter constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wood and light gauge materials including, but not limited to dwelling units, offices, warehouses, warehouses, schools and churches. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated
  • Selects specified type of lumber or other materials
  • Prepares layout. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials
  • Shapes materials to prescribed measurements
  • Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel, pins or glue
  • Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenters level
  • Erects framework for structures, including walls and floors
  • Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinetwork
  • Applies shock absorbing, sound deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls, interior and exterior
  • Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letter drops and kick plates
  • Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete
  • Tracks, maintains and secures company owned tools as at all times
  • Attends quarterly field personnel meeting
  • Performs safety responsibilities per orientations, quarterly meetings, OSHA standards and the WLB Safety Program
  • Maintains and adheres to the company Systems and Procedures Manuel

Requirements: Our ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum five years experience in the construction industry performing tasks as outlined above
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • OSHA Ten Hour Class
  • Ability to either rough frame and/or finish carpentry
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with Company and insurance carrier standards and policies
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Provide personal transportation that is insured, legal and reliable to multiple and sometimes distant jobsites
  • Good oral communication skills
