Job Description

The Estimator will be responsible for the estimating of projects for our California offices. This includes all conceptual negotiated and hard bid estimates and interfacing with project managers, estimating coordinator, other estimators, and all support teams and client relations to achieve precise estimates.

Responsibilities: Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares conceptual and bid estimates as per bid procedures
  • Reviews drawings, specifications and owner requirements with Director of Preconstruction,
  • Prepares general conditions cost and coordinates with Project Managers the monitoring process of all general conditions cost
  • Prepares cover letters and bid proposal, including the cost breakdown, clarifications, scope and exclusions
  • Develops quantity takeoffs through computer based takeoff software
  • Responds to all subcontractor inquiries and prepares subcontractor evaluations and re-cap
  • Monitors, assists, critiques schedules, if required, for any estimates
  • Develops trade specific scopes of work for pricing of a project

Requirements: Our ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

  • Supportive in a team environment; think “big picture” and take into account long term implications while constantly analyzing ways to improve performance and product
  • Have at least 1 to 5 years experience in the construction industry performing responsibilities equivalent to those listed above,
  • Intermediate to Advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Intermediate to Advanced level in Onscreen Takeoff
  • Beginning to Intermediate level in Building Connected or similar bid solicitation software
  • Beginning to Intermediate level in Bluebeam Revu
  • Intermediate to Advanced level understanding of digital images (how to open, view, customize and print)
  • Have strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Be able to work extended hours as required by project schedules or urgent circumstances
  • Pay extreme attention to detail
  • Possess a strong ambition to succeed
  • Be able to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project
